Lonely Cajun Man (LonelyCajunMan)
I haven't attended Services here in quite some time. I was visiting a friend that lives across the street and happened to be there from what I think might have been lunch time through the end of the class day. We sat outside having a typical cajun visit, enjoying one of those idyllic spring days we look forward to each year whilst catching up and looking back on our growing number of years. Suddenly it dawned on me that the sound childrens laughter, eeks and squeals of delight were being carried like a melody on the brisk spring breeze. A typical school day recess. How refreshing that was to hear after more than a year of half faceless non smiling silence. A short time passed and it was the end of the school day. I watched with newfound interest the endless procession of buses and parental vehicles picking up eagerly awaiting students. One thing that really stood out to me was the organization and effectiveness of the staff in marshalling the bouncing and weaving line of human enthusiasm anxious to be gobbled up and taken home after a day of learning. The intermixing of buses and cars picking up the youngsters was almost like watching a vehicular zipper, coming together for a common cause and once their immediate goal was realized separating with each goiinto their own unique directions. In what seemed as no time at all suddenly it was quiet and somber mood fell over me. For a brief moment in time I had been transported back to a time of carefree innocence, a time growing more distant with each passing day. Suddenly my gaze shifted to our local landmark, St Genevieve. These were the buildings named in her honor that welcomed and protected weekly worshipers, and daily learners through the years and now decades, just as they had done for me in my youth. My mood grew somber as I reflected on the passing years and reluctantly returned to reality. I smiled in acknowledgement of the hope that was renewed in me. My hope for our future that had been renewed. I knew without any doubt that God's presence, his loving, protective hand was over this place. St Genevieve, the church, school and the congregation that places our past, present and future in the hands of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Soli Deo Gloria
