As always, outstanding service from UIC. Frank Peterson provided excellent service, as do all of the technicians at UIC.

I originally used this company to install my HVAC system in 2015. I have kept them as my service provider. They on-site techs are amazing. Their office personal could use a refresher on how to due their job. Every time they would schedule service they would forget to set my appointment up for two people. Since I live in South Philadelphia and they put my unit on the roof they need an extension ladder and two Techs to service my house. This is constantly an issue. They either never schedule for two and they have to come back or they will call and say they need to cancel. This has been going on since 2016. In 2021 I sent in my renewal for my service plan but they did not cash the check. Granted they might not have received it due to the on going mail issues. They also never sent a letter informing me that they would no longer be serving in Philadelphia because of their new ladder policy. If they need two techs for job and a extension ladder they decided it’s not something the could fulfill. I have called multiple times to speak with a supervisor and haven’t received all call back. I have been waiting since mid August. Thankfully a lady named Terry has been helpful and understanding but I am totally disappointed with this company’s office personnel.

The Unique Indoor Comfort HVAC Company is great! They treat you as a valued customer. Today, they sent their HVAC Service Technician Jason Dolan, and he provided me with excellent service. He greeted me warmly and he was very conscientious about keeping things clean as he put on his shoe protection each time he stepped into my mother's house. He took the time to help me learn, as a senior person, how to be able to change the filters on the system. He labeled my unit for me to indicate the proper way to put the filter in. After finishing my unit maintenance appointment, he left things neat and tidy. He was outstanding and he brightened up my day with his exceptional professionalism. Thank you, Jason Dolan.

High velocity Air Conditioning systems are a perfect solution for adding central air conditioning to homes that aren’t compatible with traditional systems. Many older homes, especially in metropolitan areas, have space constraints or plaster walls that don’t allow them to fit the large ductwork used in traditional systems. That’s why High Velocity systems use smaller, flexible ducts to deliver cold air in a way that can be designed into any situation.
If you have flooding inside around your furnace system, do not turn your system on. Please have a service technician out to inspect and safely restart your system.
As part of the customized solutions our Comfort Advisors provide, they take measurements to calculate the load capacity needed to provide the best comfort for your home. Give us a call to set up an appointment for an estimate.
There are a number of issues that could cause this: clogged or dirty filters, lack of regular maintenance, insufficient ductwork and returns, improperly sized equipment, and poor insulation.
Unfortunately, we do not offer duct cleaning services at this time. We are able to repair, replace, or adjust duct work for improved air flow.
Yes, additional zones can be added to your existing HVAC system by modifying the ductwork with dampers or adding additional returns.
Rebates are available for new systems throughout the year. Visit the "Ways to Save" tab on our website or contact us for up to date information on current rebates available.
There are a few ways to improve the energy efficiency of your HVAC equipment. Performing regular maintenances to keep the equipment clean and operating well; installing smart thermostats to better control how often your system runs; replacing old and less efficient systems with higher efficiency equipment or different energy sources like natural gas, propane, or electric.
Absolutlely. There are multiple solutions for adding AC to older homes and Unique has experience in all. Our Comfort Advisors will assess your home and provide multiple solutions available for your home, for you to choose the right application best suited for you.
Our in home consulations to add air conditioning, replace or convert a system are free! Technician visits to determine needed repairs do have a diagnostic fee.
Due to epa guidelines, we can only refill once. If a system is out of refrigerant, a leak check should be performed to identify and solve issue, prior to re-filling.
It is recommended to change your air filters every 1-3 months. Frequency depends on if there are pets in the home, anyone with allergies/asthma in the home, usage of hvac system.
Prior to calling for a technician to come out, there are a few things you can check the thermostat to make sure it is working properly, make sure the filters and registers are clean, and check your circuit breaker. You should also look for any leaks or ice build up on the equipment itself.
Yes! Our ductless systems are capable of providing both cooling and heating for your home. These are often a great option to supplement your existing heating system in the shoulder months.
We recommend doing a maintenance on your HVAC equipment once a year. The best practice is to have your air conditioning maintenanced in the spring so that it is ready to be used for the summer and having your heating system maintenanced in the fall to be prepared for the winter
Our technicians are available on-call for emergency appointments for evening appointments.
We have on-call technicians available 7 days a week. Weekend appointments are weather dependent so please call to schedule.

This functionality also works in reverse in the summer, allowing heat pumps to provide both heating and cooling for your home. By flipping the flow of the coolant internally, heat pumps can transfer heat from inside of your home through the outdoor component of the heat pump. In the summer, the indoor coil acts as the evaporator, and the outdoor unit acts as the compressor. Working much like a refrigerator, the heat from the inside of the house is absorbed by coolant in the indoor unit of the system. The warm air in the unit then evaporates into gas form, moving to the outside unit. The heat is transferred from the coolant to the outside air, and then the heat pump cycles the coolant through again, continuing to cool the home.
The amount of indoor mini split units you’ll need for your home depends on the size of your space and the number of rooms you want to heat or cool. Some homeowners have as little as one or two units that target specific areas of the home such as a garage or addition, but others have as many as five to control the climate throughout their entire home.
With proper installation and maintenance, mini split ac systems can last for 10+ years. As with any HVAC unit, efficiency and reliability of the system tends to decrease with age, so you may want to consult a professional about installing a new system after 10 years.
SEER, or “seasonal energy efficiency ratio”, is an energy rating related to air conditioning. Central air systems with a SEER rating of 16 or higher are eligible for rebates through your energy provider, so be sure to consult with an AC professional today to maximize your system’s efficiency and substantially cut down on your energy bill.
In terms of maintenance, regular seasonal cleanings of your system’s filter and coils will maximize its efficiency and cut down on costs. In other cases, a ductwork evaluation performed by an HVAC professional is a logical choice for many homeowners. Leaky ductwork is very often the root cause of many inefficient central air systems. If you are in a long-term living situation, upgrading to a modernized system is the best option for maximizing efficiency and cutting down on costs. Modern systems have variable speed motors, much like a manual transmission in a car. These motors are designed to run at lower energy levels depending on the outside temperature, helping your central air system to run much more efficiently overall.
There are many factors which will determine how often your tank will need to be refilled. Your system's oil usage depends on how often your heater comes on, how high you set your thermostat, how efficient your system runs, and how well your home is insulated. Because oil heating systems vary so much, it is best to get a professional out to inspect your system and make recommendations on how often it should be refilled. Oil systems require annual maintenance to change the oil filter and to vacuum out the motor and blower. Without annual cleaning, the oil residue builds up and can significantly reduce the efficiency and longevity of your system.
In short- yes! Thankfully, there are multiple options, like ductless mini-splits and high velocity systems, to install different AC systems depending on the construction of your home. You can receive a consultation to have your home assessed to review all of your system options.
It’s a good idea to ask about the existing warranty of your HVAC system before you purchase your new home, but if you didn’t do that, there are other options. Normally, the HVAC warranty is held by the purchaser and only some HVAC warranties are able to be transferred over. Additionally, this has to happen within a specific time frame, so it is best to get it done as soon as possible. If you can’t contact the previous homeowner for your HVAC warranty, you should be able to enter the serial number of your HVAC into the manufacturer’s website to find out if it is under warranty. All of this information should be on your system or in your HVAC manual. Your warranty information is useful to know for future repairs or maintenance, and will give you valuable information about your HVAC.
Unfortunately, you can not purchase only the equipment. We would need to install the equipment in your residence.
