Last Wednesday, July 13th 2022 I strained muscIes in my chest. The pain was so unbearable I did not sleep at all for the next 2 nights. I was very concerned about the lack of sleep so Friday the 15th I went to Cone Health Urgent Care in Kernersville and was diagnosed with muscle strain of my anterior chest wall, given a steroid shot and prescribed prednisone and a muscle relaxer. This did provide some relief. However the next 3 nights I only managed roughly 3 hours of sleep each night in a recliner as I could not lay in bed due to overwhelming pain. Monday the 18th I once again had no sleep at all due to the overwhelming pain even in the recliner. I did manage about 3 hours sleep last night, the 19th which means I have had a total of about 13 hours sleep over the past 7 days. Normally, over 7 days one should have about 50 hours of sleep. Sleep deprivation is a real and serious thing. Some of the first effects are grumpiness (got it), decline in cognitive ability (got it) and something called micro sleep (got it), this is where you suddenly nod off or blank out for 15 - 20 seconds... could be lots of fun while driving. I called the doctors office yesterday. the 19th that I had visited last Friday twice and left 2 messages on the nurses line detailing my issue/concern about my lack of sleep. No return call after over 4 hours. I felt really rough yesterday because of the lack of sleep. The pain I can handle when I am up and about. It is when I lay down to try to sleep that the pain is so unbearable I can't sleep. Finally I called back to the doctors office and spoke to the receptionist. Explained my situation for the 3rd time and was told a nurse would call me back. After about an hour a nurse did call. For the 4th time I explained in detail what my situation was. She said she would speak to the "provider" and call me back. Apparently they are not called doctors anymore, but providers. She finally did call me back and said the provider said I had to come back in and be seen again. I once again explained my concern about driving due to the sleep deprivation and asked what else is there to be seen for? I simply need something for pain in order to be able to sleep and to simply look at me and talk to me in person does nothing more than speaking with me over the phone would do other than afford them another charge for an office visit. I was told that was all they would do. Yet another reason I haven't been to a doctor in years and will not go again unless I have no other choice. I am encouraged that I did get at least 3 hours sleep last night and do feel a little better. Still fuzzy minded though and still experiencing micro sleep. I hope sleep does begin to return as I would rather not experience the next results of sleep deprivation which can be hallucinations and possible psychotic episodes. Thanks Cone Health for your overwhelming concern for collecting fees for office visits rather than the well being of your patients.

The professional care given was the absolute worst. Michael, the physicial on duty, was more concerned that the facility closed at 8:00pm and he had another patient to see than caring for my need. The nurse had laryngitis and was not feeling well. She should have been at home.

The term human compassion doesn’t exist for the nurse with long red hair in a pony tail that was working on5/16 @ 2 pm. She was so rude to my 76 year old Mom. I was on the phone and I heard the conversation. She was impatient and told her she didn’t have time to check on the name of previous antibiotic she had taken. I was told it was a rule, they couldn’t call other Drs but she didn’t have to be so rude! The doctor was very kind!! He should pass some compassion on his staff! And they were understaffed and so slow - Even with appointment! Dr gets 5 stars. Staff -0
