The Ruins are just that... There are guided tours that will take you there and add another dimension to seeing them
When you go to the site today you can see the remains of several of the structures. It is one of the best examples of tabby construction. Pieces of the main plantation farmhouse along with the slave quarters do remain. It is an easy visit that does not require a lot of walking. You do need to pay $6 as it lies with in the Sea Pines Plantation. There is a lot of signage around exaplaning the history of the structures as well as the families and the work that was done on the plantation. There are also a few websited that have some information including some great pictures of what exsists today. The site is listed on the National Historic Register. Check out Beachsude Getaways for a great writeup about the history of the plantation.
