Always seen on time. Staff is very kind, and doctors are thorough with your care.

Last year my husband and I had recently moved and quickly needed to have wellness exams for insurance purposes. We could not find a female Dr accepting new patients that could fit us on the schedule within the time constraints set by our insurance so we set up our appointments with a male nurse thinking next year we would have the time to look around for the female doctor I had wanted from the beginning. When we attended the appintment it was suggested by the male nurse to list him as my primary care provider because I can always change it and in the meantime would have someone listed should I need it. That sounded fine at the time. Now I'm trying to schedule my wellness exam and I'm being told they do not allow internal transfers and I cannot change my primary care provider and would have to look outside of Atrium health if I want a female family doctor. I don't think should have to point out any of the many reasons this is problematic but let's start with the fact that I feel completely misled by the person that is now my primary care provider... My first experience with wake forest/artrium health and I feel as though I've been manipulated into having someone I clearly did not want to be my care provider, the only person I can seek care from. What a way to build trust with a patient. While there was nothing wrong with the care I received now I feel like if there ever was, I have no avenues to seek alternatve care withing the same system which is absolutely insane. Additionally as a female, if I am not comfortable recieveng care from a male, I should not need any additional reasoning to change my primary care doctor! I feel like this is absolutely insane. I'm trying to work through this with the office but if I'm not able at this point I'd prefer getting care somewhere that values honesty and transparentcy anyway. Edit 8/2/22 - I called the office as suggested below and was told the office manager would return my call to discuss. It has been weeks with no response.

I have been a patient at this office since 2017. Everyone, the check-in folks, nurses, phlebotomists and other medical staff, and the doctors are all wonderful. They are all kind, compassionate, and extremely professional. I am a senior citizen so I have years of experience with all kinds of doctors and have no hesitation in giving this office my highest recommendation.

Dr. Shelburne and his staff are friendly. They seem to be generally concerned about their patients. Keep up the great work!👍👍's up.
