Service: 2/5 definitely not much service at all, the whole qr code order system is good during covid but should be removed by now. Customers may have questions on food, especially people with allergy, staffing is usually on the lower end here that they frequently has to be told twice for water refill and napkins. Understaffed while trying to automate ordering. Setting 3/5: booth seats are nice but table seats are very close to each other. It could be very comfortable even precovid. Honestly this place is usually understaffed anyway, why so many tables, can't keep up with service anyway, might as well keep ppl waiting outside rather than at a table so close to make dining experience awkward. Taste: 5/5 the only thing that keeps me going back 3-4 times a month. LoL. Their food is authentic. My favorite is the grill whole fish, their mala stir fry pot is my regular too, and don't forget their spicy fried chicken. Overall 3.5-4.0 but I can't do 3.5 here, so round up since taste does matter more than everything else, because there is always the option of takeout.

Oh their mala hot pot is a must must try. Its my go to food and never disappoints. Definitely a must visit when in boston.

I have been a loyal customer of Mala for many years. This time I ordered a delivery from Mala for their most popular Spicy Pot with 6 veggies. First of all, I received only half the size of what it used to be. Secondly, it only contains 5 veggies instead of 6 as I picked. I reported to the restaurant, and got a response saying that they would only compensate me $1 for it. Excuse me???? This is the way they are treating their loyal customer. I would never recommend this restaurant, ever!

Went to this place with a friend who introduced me to various items on the menu. If you are non-Chinese, I can recommend few of dishes on the menu which are good. Try the kung pao chicken, Mala dry pot, Schezwan spicy cold noodle, mantou (my fav). Loved the spicy-ness of food. Definitely a lot to try from the menu. I will visit again and explore them. No need for reservations but it can get pretty busy on weekends.
