The museum was great, better than I expected, but there are a few things to know. The website and Google Maps say the museum closes at 5pm, but on my visit the staff were asking people to leave at 4:15, and they closed at 4:30. Also, the parking kiosk in front of the building says "$4, up to 11 hours". But that's not the case, I paid for parking and still got a parking ticket for $33.50

An amazing experience. Educational, all exhibits were fantastic. Highly recommended.

Really interesting and eclectic museum. A fantastic trip through Pennsylvania history.

The State Museum of Pennsylvania and State Archives building are abstract surprises in the small, traditional city of Harrisburg. It's not as popular/crowded as those famous museums, but exhibitions cover a wide range of topics.

The state museum doesn't have it's own garage, but there's metered street parking on the block and public garages available in the area http://statemuseumpa.org/visit/directions-parking/
$27. Adults $7. Children 11 and under $5
Yes, it's great! Costs a few bucks
You can park in the Stawberry Square downtown parking garage which is a short walk past the state capitol building next block.
Yes it is. It's open from 12-5.
I don't think they charge extra.
Yes on the 3rd floor in the planetarium lobby.
As per the State Museum website: Mobility: Free wheelchairs (3 sizes) are available free of charge inside each entrance, first-come, first-served. All floors are accessible by elevator. Seating in about every third gallery. Adjustable height canes with rubber tips available. The Museum Café and Store are barrier-free. For more information about accessibility: https://www.philamuseum.org/accessibility/
Absolutely I took a ton of photos not only for my Google review but pics of the kids as well.
Members have free access to the Museum, as well as the planetarium.
Do they still have the original Civil War unit flags from the PA units?
Contact our curator Curt Miner at the museum. Call the main museum number to be transferred to Curt. He may be able to help you.
About $10 per person
From what I've seen, the children walk from the back of the capitol at the fountain. They either start their capitol tour first or the museum first and then switch since they do both.
Open Wed. through Sat 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday 12:00 - 5:00 p.m.
It's on street parking in the city. They charge to park M-Sat 8am - 7pm. I think it is something like $3 per hr.
