Routine eye exams are commonly performed annually to provide glasses and contact lenses. During a visit your doctor will also be ensuring proper eye health and may reveal damaging vision conditions of which you may not notice symptoms but are important to catch in early stages. Other types of exams are usually for the ongoing treatment and management of any ocular diseases that might be uncovered during a routine exam, highlighting the importance of having a routine exam each year. In addition, there are exams for pre-operative and post-operative care for surgery patients.
