The staff is overworked and fried. They make you wait well past your appointment time and the whole operation is poorly managed. While they do pediatrics, it's just an after thought and clearly not something they put effort into.

I visited Dr. Jackson and was told to have blood work done at the Westerly hospital. I did so, and now have a $400 bill for blood work, which is insane since I have pretty good health insurance (without insurance it would've been over $2,000). I looked into the typical cost of each test, and the hospital charged 2-3 times more. I called the hospital, and they told me they're more expensive than a typical clinic, so I called Wood River to recommend they give their patients this information when sending them to a hospital for something that could easily be done at a lab. I was told I had the option to get a prescription to have blood work done elsewhere. I wasn't told this previously and it enrages me that it's assumed I would know this. The receptionist refuted that the hospital isn't more expensive, even though the hospital just told me they are. Also, the receptionist argued with me that I still would've had the blood work done, even knowing the cost, which is wildly inappropriate. Healthcare is a luxury in this country. She also then went on to tell me about her son's healthcare costs and even her dog's, all very inappropriate. In summary, know your options and always ask if there's a less expensive one. In addition, all the blood work came back normal, and there's been no follow-up from the doctor, so I've paid $400 and still don't have any answers.

I broke my tailbone falling out of a MOVING CAR and the emergency room sent me home and told me to take ibuprofen. Let me say that again I BROKE MY TAILBONE and the emergency room told my to take IBUPROFEN. ibuprofen doesn’t even touch my HEADACHES never-mind a BROKEN bone. So I called my primary care doctors office (wood river) for something to help with the pain, and I get told to put ice on it and take ibuprofen. I am sure if one of these doctors went home and they broke their tailbone they would call in pain medicine within 5 minutes. I can’t cough, sneeze, laugh, sit down, lay down, go to stand up, bend over, lift my legs without being in excruciating pain and I get told to take ibuprofen and put ice on it. This is ridiculous, what is the point in having a doctor if they aren’t going to help you when your hurt or sick? I could’ve taken Ibuprofen and put ice on it myself without calling the doctor, the ibuprofen is not touching my pain, the Tylenol is not touching my pain, the ice is not working, I have a lidacaine patch on and it is not helping. But since there are addicts in the world a person who legitimately has a broken tailbone can’t get any pain medicine and has to suffer for the next 8-12 weeks. I will be calling the health department and I will be leaving reviews and letting everybody know what awful care I have got here so far. I also got birth control and I asked my doctor to take it out because it wasn’t right for my body and she refused. Definitely do not go here they truly do not care about their patients

Brought my child here for an appointment last week. We saw Dr. McCarten, and he was wonderful, gentle, and understanding with my special-needs son. Would definitely recommend!

You are not messaging the health center here, but I know that they do. You can call them with any questions, they'll let you know right away!
Leave a message, they'll call you as soon as they can, but there are a million fax, and other communications to deal with before they can start on the phones. Don't forget how much electronic messages come from other doctors and hospitals, and also pharmacies, and messages left overnight!!! It's health care, SO MUCH is urgent!
