This city is terrible.

When I visited, the office had really good customer service, and I really appreciated that they had patience with my questions.

It doesn't make sense not to accept lease agreement as a proof of residency. Freshly moved tenants usually don't have any mail for a few days, and visitor parking permit is a necessity for people not owning a vehicle. Very poor thinking on behalf of the City administration.

In 2011 I was ticketed frequently by Cambridge Parking to fill their quota. These were strictly for an expired inspection sticker. I tried explaining that I had to get my exhaust fixed and the tickets were predatory and exacerbated the problem. Recently I contacted Cambridge to try and correct the situation. I was told to call directly and have since been ignored for the past week. They want money only and are uninterested in anything else.

You can go to Cambridgema.gov and choose traffic and parking, or you can cal 617-349-4700 for more info..
If you are transferring plates, peel the old sticker off your old car (even in pieces) and bring it with you along with registration and proof of residence. Then you don't have to pay another $25. Go here for details: https://www.cambridgema.gov/traffic/Permits/residentparkingpermit
