READ first before spending much money here! I received a written quote on 3 trees from the owner of the company (father) to then have the son call ON THE DAY OF DELIVERY to say that they would be $400 more, that the father had made a mistake. He worked with me but then failed to be able to tell me WHEN I could get delivered the 3 trees I had put money down on. While waiting for a resolution (3 days in) I meet someone else in Milford whom this had also happened to, with 10 trees! Same story of the someone "underquoting them" and then on delivery day them getting a call saying price had gone up. It's like they hold the trees hostage. Infuriating and just please people, refuse to play! very shady. BTW, when I negotiated a refund on what I had put down, they also shorted me on what we had agreed I was to get back!

This is a true nursery, unlike the pseudo garden centers at the big box stores, home improvement stores, and supermarkets. Don't get me wrong, the chains have their place. They work for lots of people. But Guernsey's is for you if you want a broad selection of plant material in a variety of sizes, most of it grown locally. "Grown locally" is important. Those plants are acclimated - they are grown here and are used to our climate. A rhododendron grown in the Carolinas is lush and full, but has never seen our windy, 0-degree January days. Plant survival is never certain, but your chances are better with Northern-grown material. Also, Guernsey's hasn't lasted 130 years by bringing in plants, half-neglecting them, then marking them down. You will still find decent specimens after the Spring rush. Selection is better then most places. Prices are competitive. Service is good. Bottom line, this is worth the drive when the limited selection of run-of-the-mill trees, shrubs, and perennials at the box stores won't do. For me, that is almost always...
