Insanely ethnically diverse ministry, that is actually close knit. Genuine people showing the love of Christ as soon as you step inside and its like that all the time. For the review regarding Bon Jovi's song being played I just wanted to clarify that it was not a part of praise and worship. It was a separate intro that was part of a series called Summer Mixtape, *after* praise and worship. The theme continued through to the end of the series with songs like "Eye of the Tiger" and "Man in the Mirror" related to the title of the sermons all which were separate from actual praise and worship. Our worship team did an amazing job and put a great effort towards putting the performances together throughout the series. The church is a real family , pastors and leaders are accessible and know your name, and their priority is Jesus. Ao much so that theyre always open to helping you find the church thats best for you, even if it isnt Alive which is how they won me over.

I've never written a review on a church, but I felt compelled after this experience. First, it was only my second time coming, and I got yelled at by a parking attendant for going the "wrong way" (first time guests park differently). Second, oh how I long for a church that understands we are in the world but not of it. That we are to be holy and set apart. Peculiar, even. But on this particular Sunday liturgical worship included a Bon Jovi song, "Living on a Prayer". It felt like a rock concert with people shouting the lyrics and holding up their phones to record the spectacle. The alternative style would have been tolerable if God was being exalted and HIS name lifted high, but that was not the case with this song and procedure (with the two singers dramatically entering from the back, pandering to the cameras, and marching to the stage). My spirit was so grieved that I left after that. I couldn't help but be reminded of the scriptures about "strange fire" (strange worship) and didn't want to partake in that. While likely well-intentioned, many churches nowadays want so badly to be like the world that they take on their customs, and are quite indistinguishable in their behaviors. I'll continue in my search to find a God-exalting church that is less concerned with religious theatre and the production of an entertaining show, and more about declaring Jesus Christ more desirable than all the fleeting pleasures of this world, where the Kingdom of God is primarily sought, and where everything is done for His Glory Alone.
