Wow! Talk about views! And also a scary drive lol. This place is amazing. It was very cold at the top and very windy that day. It felt like 20 degrees with 40 mph winds! But just a spectacular site. If your afraid of height, don't do this. If you don't like driving on the edge of a 6000 foot cliff. Take the cog rail instead.

At first we thought it was slightly expensive for 4 people but I can tell you, the experience and views from the top were worth it for $105 total. I drove in a manual car and made it up and down the mountain no problem. Very narrow roads with no guard rails so make sure you’re an experienced driver and have good judgement of how wide your car is. Make sure to leave plenty of room when going down the hill so you’re not riding your brakes and getting close to someone. If so, pull off to give yourself space and to cool your brakes. Putting the car into first gear to engine brake helps to not burn your brakes.

Neat experience- enough so that we've now done it twice on our motorcycle! Prices seem to have gone up a bit, but make sure you count your change before driving away... Also... if you're afraid of heights or are not a strong/confident driver, pay to take the train or the guided trip. The road is narrow and there are no guardrails- which is fine for those who are competent and confident in their ability. But it REALLY ruins it for other people when you're crawling up the hill or driving down the middle of the road... partly because it holds EVERYONE up, but mostly because it's a major safety issue.

Really, really cool! I ended up doing this twice because it was so enjoyable. Please keep in mind that they aren't exaggerating when they say the road is narrow, steep, and there are no guardrails. If you have a fear of heights or lack of driving experience, consider going with the guided tour. Wind can be really crazy at higher elevations, so keep that in mind as well. Otherwise, take your time and enjoy the beautiful views and fun drive!

We anticipate that we'll open for summer drive-yourself in mid-May and for guided tours on Memorial Day weekend. Check our website for updates!

How much per adult. Per child

Christopher Steward | Jan 29, 2021
Lisa S | Jan 30, 2021

$40 for adults on the Cog Railway. Reservation only if you want the van to take you up the mountain. Those prices are on the website. I just went last week and didn't know they are reservation only right now. Had to drive up myself and it was $35 for the car, $10 extra per adult in the car and kids under 7 were free. Observation building not open at the top, but you can walk around.
