I've been debating myself to decide if this review should be 3 or 4 stars. The reason I landed on 4 is that after a somewhat comical initial encounter with a staff member, we only had positive experiences at this property. A few things to note if you consider staying here: It's far from almost everything (which can be a huge plus or a minus depending on your preference, for us it was a plus). There's only a gas station, a diner, and a dive bar type place around the hotel. the casino only had slot machines, this might be normal, but I missed more games and didn't stay long. Check-in is 4pm. We arrived at 350pm and waited around for a few minutes until a staff member appeared. We asked if we could check in and he said 'not until 4pm' and pointed to some sign on the wall. I looked at my watch and it was 358pm...... didn't make us feel that welcome but all we could do was laugh. When we did get our room, it was big and clean. No issues or complaints in that regard, very standard IHG / Holiday Inn. We didn't try the breakfast so can't speak to that. Our other staff interactions were pleasant. For such a new property, the rooms are very loud, we could hear the conversation in the neighboring room quite clearly and they were speaking with normal voices. Bottom line, if you want to stay close to nature and away from a city, this is a great option. Just be aware that they seem inflexible around early check-in and you might be kept awake at night if your neighbors are noisy.

The hotel room was rather large and accommodated the entire family. The odd part about the hotel was the service and outside of the room. We were only given 3 sets of towels for a 4 person room. When we asked for towel we were told there was no one in housekeeping and to come down to the front desk for a towel. The front desk person was also the phone operator and evening housekeeping person, so if you called down to the front desk you were put on hold until you gave up. We asked for more towels the next day and were told that we had to leave all of our dirty towels outside our room and they would be replaced. (Housekeeping was not coming in the rooms for our entire stay.) When we returned, someone else in the hotel took all of our towels and when we told the front desk, they couldn't believe that we put ALL the hotel towels in the hall. So they told us to come down to the front desk, gave us 4 more sets and told us they were now out of towels. The indoor pool was not heated and not very comfortable unless you were a small child. The health club was locked and of course the front desk person had to let you in. The breakfast was not rather lackluster, the walls hinted at an "Egg-Xactly the Start you needed" But there were no eggs, & the "Hot Food" area was toaster. The hotel seems to have great potential, but it just hasn't been realized yet.

Had a reservation at a motel in town. Left immediately after seeing the room and drove here. It was WORTH THE SHORT drive. Rooms are IMMACULATE, beds are not too high off the ground and comfortable. It was quiet. The parking lot was safe and well lit. The staff was friendly and helpful. The maid never enters the room. You are asked to place your towels outside of your room with your trash. But, There were only enough towels for one person to shower. The TV was a little complicated to operate. Still, the beat stay within 100 miles.

We stayed here while taking a trip to the Redwood Forrest from the east coast. It was obvious this hotel was under the same constraints as many places due to COVID, decreased staff, supply shortage etc. However, all the staff were friendly, and hard-working and made the stay very pleasant. Rose at the front desk was exceptional! She went above and beyond for not only us but all the guests. Genuinely kind and personable.

We were able to have a pet after calling the front desk and asking. This was earlier this year.
