If the amount of tax debt is larger than what you can afford to pay, then the possible options are a 1) payment plan, or 2) an offer in compromise where we negotiate a settlement of your back taxes. The payment plan option has many variations, that we can discuss with you such as a part-pay installment agreement, and currently not collectible status.

The first step is to determine which tax years are involved, and whether they want an in-person meeting or will it be through the mail. The next step is to gather all your tax records relevant to the issue they want to review and organize them. Lastly, unless the issue is straight forward, consider hiring a representative.
A tax lien is what the IRS files when a person or company owes them over a certain amount as security that the tax debt will be repaid. It is similar to how a bank takes out a mortgage on your property when you owe them. The tax lien allows the IRS to seize the property if you do not pay them or reach a deal to pay them a lessor amount. A tax levy is the act of the IRS to take money or property from a person to satisfy a tax debt. Often the levy would be against your wages or a bank account. A wage garnishment is very serious since it most cases it can be a large portion of your salary. For New York State tax debt, it is limited to 10% of your wages.
Yes, your tax resolution case will be personally handled by an attorney and certified public accountant licensed in the State of New York.
Yes, we are able to get your tax records such as W2's, 1099's, 1098's etc. in order to prepare the tax returns. The taxpayer should not worry about obtaining their lost tax documents but having them makes your case easier to resolve.
It is helpful to have the type of tax that your having an issue with (income tax, sales tax, etc) and a general understanding of the amount of tax owed, why the tax may be owed, and the tax years involved.
