Shands is absolutely the worst hospital I have ever been to. The nursing management has horrible and need to learn bed side manners. We asked for our daughter to have three support people (due to a trauma revolving around the conception) to be in the room up to the point of delivery and was rudely denied and told that someone had to leave immediately due to Covid procedures. Mind you, we are vaccinated. Also, please note, the hospital is able to make an exception to their policy in these types of cases and failed to do so. Jan McKenzie was rude and so was part of her staff. Our nurse however was amazing and kept apologizing. It was bad enough that we have considered moving her during the labor process. I would NOT recommend this hospital to my dying dog.

Gave birth here & nurse that was assigned to me on my second night was rude & had no care in her job. She rolled her eyes when I told her I was in pain and left. She wouldn’t respond to me when I would ask for things I needed. And the lactation consultant that was sent to me grabbed my baby’s head so hard she made him cry like no other. I took him away from her & all she did was just stand there & stare. I also was dispatched without receiving the car seat course and had to get office ladies downstairs to assist with that. They were very unorganized.
