My husband has been a client of Mr. Sykes for 20 plus years. During that time, he has dutifully maintained all financial obligations, requiring only minimal contact with Sykes & Company for account review and updates. As we near retirement and other such matters, we felt it prudent to once again review and/or confirm the account information of record. This was in part due to our receipt of a NOTICE OF BENEFICIARY CHANGE, which we had indeed initiated; however, the notice left us concerned that some information may have been recorded incorrectly. To that end, my husband called the office to make further inquiry. Since the associate who took the call was unable to provide an answer herself, an appointment was made with Mr. Sykes to address the matter. My husband further received an email yesterday to confirm said meeting, to which he replied in the affirmative. We arrived at 1:55 pm today to the Wake Forest Rd. location for our 2 pm meeting to find no one on site. The door was locked and notice was posted to indicate the intended return of someone at 2 o’clock. Our assumption of this return was in reference to today’s date in the pm time frame, but I suppose that notice could have been the remnants of days past. We waited for 30 minutes with no success. Upon returning home, my husband discovered another email from the associate which had been sent this morning. The email was requesting yet another confirmation that we would be in attendance of our appointment on todays date at 2 pm; A meeting for which I have no doubt would have taken less time than it did for the posting of this review... I’m sure that in the grander scheme of things, this could be counted as barely worthy of much more attention than a simple phone call. However, one should have no undue fretting over a policy that has been YEARS in the making. That is, after all, entirely the point of purchasing insurance, is it not? Yet here I sit with worry and questionable confidence, wondering how far I’ll have to go to reach a satisfactory result; on this matter, and the one of subject to today’s “missed” scheduled meeting.
