I almost would give one star except that the people are truly nice however the organization as a whole is useless. Subpar therapist, classes are never open due to Covid and absolutely no help given to homeless which I am. No vouchers for hotels, shelters full absolutely no suggestion where I can lay my head except parking garage.

called them in a crisis, hung up still in a crisis with basically a “good luck”...

NAMI of Dupage I did attend a support group session and it emphasised labeling during the identification process. NAMI does not have doctor's or practitioners but it does have people with mental health experiences .. I tried to get a session with a rep that I knew of from a GSH outpatient program and she was not available at all. At the Wheaton location there is a cafe stand and their prices are totally reasonable but I did have a bad encounter with one of their employees he was discriminating around "his employees" and he is not everyone's friend . Maybe by contributing purchasing anything from the cafe stand he has a different demeanor I appreciated the information on mental illnesses available at this location .

I absolutely love this place. I've been struggling so much to find any confidence to go out of the house, but Nami has really helped me to open up and be myself while gaining the confidence i need. My mental illnesses make things hard, especially when looking for jobs. Volunteering here gives me hope that I'll be able to work. Everyone I've met so far has been extremely kind and understanding, and I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to grow here.

YES!! The Living Room is still open. I believe the hours are from 3-8 PM but double check the website. Everyone is still checking emails and voicemails if you need help finding resources. www.namidupage.org for information on the program they are having via Zoom. If you don't live in dupage, www.nami.org can help you find something local. Crisis text line if you need immediate help is 741-741.
The living room is open M-F from 3-8pm. It's meant as an alternative to the emergency room. In the same building is the county crisis unit, which is open 24hr/day. While thee crisis unit sends a counselor to do a before/after evaluation for the living room (make sure it's the right option for you and that you are safe to go home), the crisis unit is run by the county. The living room is a volunteer service provided by NAMI DuPage.
Please contact NAMI DuPage and ask for community resources.
Hi Tammy, Please call the office at your convenience and ask for Patty. If she is on the phone or something, I can guarantee she'll call you back the same day. We're sorry to hear of your struggle, but want to help you however we can!
Hi Rahael, Yes we do answer the Contact Us form from our website and emails! It looks like you sent one about 10 hours ago. We normally respond within 24 hours, so please know that someone will be in contact with you soon. Thank you!
All of the support groups have no registration, you just show up!
