Substandard technologies in use. Invested in lithium ion batteries when superior eco friendly domestically produced technologies exist. These people are the exact reason America's technological infrastructure is decaying and falling into the stone age. China is beating us in the energy sector, China. Seems the outdated broken tech keeps these folks who'd otherwise not be employed in a job. Ridiculous misuse of government funds. Sad to see in an era where we can be power independent without power distribution facilities.

No. It converts methane (natural gas) into electricity, heat, and CO2 to make a modest 1 Gigawatt of electrical power using combined cycle generators (~60% efficient). I've heard that it's also going to be the location for one of the country's largest energy storage systems, storing the excess solar generated during the day for use in the evenings.
