What can I say...This place is an institution on the west side. I believe this is the only place I have visited that knows how to make a good chocolate soda. This is really an art, since you must add the correct amount of chocolate syrup, vanilla ice cream, then soda water, mix then fill with additional soda water, mix again then top with a jet of high pressure soda water to produce a froth. (I remember sitting on a round, rotating seat at the counter of a drug store with a soda fountain in Price Hill, when I was 4 or 5. I would always order a chocolate soda, which would come in a tall, real glass, glass, surrounded by a stainless steel glass holder with a handle. I would sit and spin on the revolving seat while the soda was being made. The soda usually had whipped cream and a red cherry on top.) While there are now waxed cardboard cups and no cherry or whipped cream, the actual chocolate soda at Putz's tastes very much the same. It is, at least, the best approximation that I have had from any of the local soft serve locations. This is just the thing to quench thirst and provide some heat reduction and quick energy for that last hill going up to Groesbeck at the end of a long bike ride on a hot summer Sunday!

My wife loves it and I think it's ok. I like a vanilla flavor in my ice cream and it doesn't have much flavor at all ( in my opinion) I usually get a sundae of some kind with toppings that way there's some flavor in there. They only take cash and a few people that were in front of us didn't know that and the server suggested going to kwik mart next door and use the ATM machine. Customer service was fast and pleasant.

Wow! A real blast from the past for me. Came here as a kid in the late 60s. Happy to see the same great ice cream treats I enjoyed way back when! A true, delicious hometown favorite. Loved it!!

My parents have been bringing me here since I was a baby and now I bring my kids. This place holds a special place in my heart. Old school creamy whip, many hot and cold selections. Everything is good. It is cash only so be prepared. Everyone please go and support this place. We need this place to be here another 50 years.
