Do not move your loved one here!!!! My mom pays almost $5000 a month and she’s not being taken care of. She can push her alert button she wears around her neck, an aide never comes, to see if she’s even ok. I’ve been there every few days, to see it for myself. I’m frustrated and aggravated every time I visit her. She calls me crying, that she’s stuck sitting on the toilet for an hour, and nobody answers her alerts. After a mini stroke, her balance was impaired. So she uses a wheelchair because she’s at risk for falling. She’s supposed to be getting physical therapy 3 days a week. That never seems to happen. She’s been there almost 4 months and now she care barely stand, her legs have gotten so weak. It’s sad to think, all that money for this kind of care. We might as well have left her at home, alone!

I moved into Fountainview a year ago. I have a 2Bedroom 2 Bath apartment with a wonderful view. The residents are very friendly and welcome newcomers, and a good variety of activities and entertainment are offered. The food service was great when I came, now it is a problem for many of us.(Yesterday they didn't even have bread available.) Dinners are now buffet style with repetitive menus. The weekly cleaning lady said she is only allowed 40 minutes to clean my apartment. On top of that I was given almost a 10 percent increase in my rent with what is now reduced services. So if you average out the good part with the part that is not so good, I give it 3 stars.

After reading previous reviews I''ll have to say they are all quite correct. this place is probably the best you can expect to find most anywhere. Truly 5 star dinning and the entire facility measures up to that as well. Compared to other facilities in the immediate area it certainly was also the best valuel. We were fortunate to have meet with the Assistant Executive Director, Michael DaSilva, during our search for an assisted living home for my mother-in-law. Michael is a perfect host and presented us with a wonderful tour of the facility. No pressure sales here, no need, the place sells itself. A beautiful compound and we just love the social settings. It seems to be a great benefit for all the residents that somewhere around 80% of the residents are Senior Living residents, (I think 55 and older) and 20% or so are assisted living. A very comfortable mix. I feel fortunate to have moved our loved one into this place.

We know this is a big change! It is a concern we often hear from seniors and their families. The good news is that there will be staff and fellow residents around who will be happy to help you learn your way around the community. Before long you will find yourself feeling right at home! We hope this information helps you or the senior you love feel more positive about the changes ahead. If you have a question we didn’t answer or if you would like to schedule an in-person visit, please call the Five Star Senior Living nearest you. Our staff will be happy to arrange a time that is convenient for you to join us for lunch and a personal tour!
Good question! Embarking on a new chapter in life doesn’t mean old friends have to be left behind. Assisted living communities offer a wide range of programs and events residents can invite guests to participate in. And they also offer transportation services so your dad can attend events in and around town with his old buddies. Fortunately, there are other ways your father can stay in touch. Social media channels like Facebook or a video chat service such as Skype are two easy avenues for staying connected.
This sometimes happen when it actually comes time to make the move. Your mom is probably anxious and a little uncertain. A late life transition like this isn’t easy to make. What might help is to get her involved in some of the events and activities at the new community now, instead of waiting until she actually moves in. Talk with the staff to see about helping her find a buddy with similar interests and hobbies that she can bond with during her visits. Becoming more familiar with the community and with a few fellow residents can help make the move feel a little less intimidating.
We hear this concern from seniors often. Sorting through and packing up a lifetime of memories and belongings can be overwhelming. One resource we like to share with families is a group of professionals called Senior Move Managers. They are experts at handling all of the details of a later life move. You can find one near your home by visiting the National Association of Senior Move Managers or Certified Relocation & Transition Specialist.
