Me and the family were passing through and we've seen they were given tours the day we were going through so we decided to stop. It was the best decision we could have made the house is so beautiful and we learned so much knowledge from our tour. The house has a bookstore. Kids may find the store to be interesting. For the restaurant part, it is also good for family.
Yes you can walk in, I don't think you need a reservation! When I went we didn't have reservations!
