Would like to share my experience with Champions in Motion. I inquired about cheerleading for a five year old Type One diabetic. This child wears a continuous glucose monitor and an insulin pump. Per her medical providers, she should not be left with anyone who cannot monitor for hypoglycemia, take her glucose, adjust her pump settings or administer glucagon shots. According to the "coach," absolutely NO ONE is allowed to attend practice. Not a parent/guardian or a personal medical aide. I offered to join as a Parent Volunteer, as the corporate website states that PV would have access to classes and backstage at events. Not according to this coach. PV sit outside class. Coach told me that she has accommodated all sorts of disabilities, epilepsy, down's syndrome ... but she has no personal knowledge of type one diabetes. She told me I could sit outside the room, and if I need to come in and adjust her pump, I could do so and EXIT IMMEDIATELY. Anyone who has any experience with TYPE ONE in a FIVE YEAR OLD knows that you cannot just adjust insulin and walk away. Eyes on the child will detect behavioral indications of hypoglycemia that a CGM cannot pick up. I called the corporate office in Cary NC; the person who called me back was not really able to address the issue. The gist of the conversation is that classes are closed for the convenience of the coach. I asked if all of the CIM sports classes would be closed to parents at that location, and she was unable to answer. I stated that perhaps the child could take a different sport. I asked, and they do not have medical personnel at practices to monitor children. She stated that the local manager would call me back. That hasn't happened. (Reading other reviews, it seems that closed practice is a corporate policy ... not sure why the office would not know the policy.) Just be aware, if your child has a medical disability and requires a parent to monitor devices and medications, this company has a policy of CLOSED PRACTICE. You will NOT be allowed to accompany your child. The coach told me that 'everyone has to follow the same rules,' which by definition means 'no one will have accommodations.' I have to wonder, if we walk in with a service dog accompanying the child ... will the dog have to sit outside the room as well? I am truly disappointed, not only for our little who would have loved to participate, but for all the other disabled children who are excluded from the team.

When my oldest first started it was fun. Then we got to go to our first nationals. Then my youngest joined and after a bit she quit because she was tired of being in her sister's shadow. Then her sister aged out, but was allowed to come back another year because of her senior year being 2020 and getting cancelled. Then once she was out my youngest thought she could go back in to a team and no one but the coach knew who her sister was. Then she missed one night due to a viewing and she was replaced and when she came back she was expected to go to a new spot and learn it quickly. She doesn't do well with sudden change. Then the coach did the worst thing ever and compared her to her sister. Coaches, teachers, or even parents should ever compare children. Also why if this is a "non profit" which I don't think it is. Anyway why if a kid or team fundraises and uses their uniform or the CIM name do they have to give up 10%? Fundraising all and I repeat ALL money should go to the kids. This company has become money hungry and not at all worth the money. And the $10 restocking fee if you return a uniform.... 😂 All you do is put it back on the shelf. I have personally been to a place where all the uniforms were stored and I see no reason to have to pay the return shipping plus the $10. There's probably more I could say but I think this is enough for one night.

I would give them a zero if possible. After discussing with a member on what I was searching for I was reassured the Champions was the spot( AAU team). However, once we arrived at the location we noticed that is was simply basic basketball training. This was not what we were searching for at all. I notified the owner immediately. He directed me to steps for getting a refund. After months and months going back and forth I still never received a refund. They gave me the hardest time over trying to get my $32 dollars back that I said forget it. I will never patronize this organization ever again, and I will let everyone know how they are.
