Been here several times over the years, taking family and friends to see Stonington, from where my family originates. The house is not that big, but grand, and the Palmer's life gives a view into the maritime history of the area. Ticket also gives entry to the local Lighthouse Museum.

Didn't get to tour the historic house, but what a tremendous research experience in the Woolworth Library. I rolled in quite late on a Friday afternoon yet Director Chelsea Mitchell was incredibly gracious, helpful, and supremely knowledgeable. She stopped whatever she'd been doing to pull a dozen spot-on books to help my colonial-era genealogy research. While I feverishly scanned, Chelsea checked archive.org and worldcat to make sure I could find several of these resources digitally for a further look. Above and beyond! Then to top it off, she gave me a perfect recommendation for a sunset dinner on the pier and directions to drive to the Founders Burying Ground (and how to pronounce)--Wequetequock on Palmer's Neck Rd. Thank you, Chelsea!

This building is listed as The Stonington Historical Society because it's their headquarters but it's also a museum! Its called The Palmer House. The tour is dedicated to Nathaniel Palmer. I didn't know anything about him going into the tour but he's a very interesting person. I don't want to spoil all the information but it's definitely worth going to and checking out! Highly recommended!
