My grandmother was there for rehab after she broke her hiip due to a fall. She received excellent care and was able to return home after several weeks.

My mom was neglected here. They couldn't get her meds after being repeatedly asked. She slipped on the floor and no one came for an hour after she rang the call bell. They forgot to give her dinner one night. When she asked they told her the cafeteria was closed. They finally brought her a dry peanut butter sandwich she could've choked on, so she didn't eat it. The PT is a joke. They never even took her into the PT room. We took her out of there after 3 days.

Very unorganized. My dad went to this facility after being released from the hospital & complained everyday about something. He did not receive the proper attention while staying there and begged for me to get him out daily. Upon his departure they didn’t even get the meds sent over that he would need until I repeatedly called and told them they weren’t at the pharmacy. The pain medicine he did leave with was only enough to last 3 days and they made his follow up appointment with his pcp for 9 days after discharge. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

There are many decisions that go into the process of choosing a nursing home for yourself or someone you care for. It is normal for the family and the resident to experience some degree of anxiety about the move. A life change as important as moving into a nursing home should be handled with care and should be made as comfortable as possible. Residents and family members can make the transition easiest by remaining informed and by proactively seeking a caring environment where the resident will feel most at home. During the transition, frustrations may occur while your loved one is becoming accustomed to the new surroundings.

Hospitals are designed for patients who have serious medical problems that can be treated only in a hospital. Insurance companies may review and stop insurance benefits when you no longer need acute hospital care. A nursing center can provide the continuing medical care and rehabilitation services you need to help you recover from illness or injury so that you can return home as soon as possible.

The social worker at the hospital or nursing center will assist you in determining the appropriate payer source (which may include Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance). If you need Medicaid to cover the cost of nursing home care, you will be referred to a Medicaid worker to help you with the Medicaid application process.

You and your family member(s) should select several nursing centers for evaluation. Placement often happens very quickly so contact, visit and tour as many nursing centers as practical. Here's my question... Why would they allow a place that allows the blatant mistreatment and abuse of elderly people to stay in buisness?!!

Answer; they wouldn't. Use some common sense, there are safeguards in place, There are enough family members and friends visiting patients on a regular basis that would certainly see this kind of behavior. Are there issues, certainly, sometimes my mother's laundry is skipped or goes missing (those darn socks). In all seriousness I can honestly say I would recommend Willowbrook Rehabilitation and Care Center.
