Horses are all vacant from the pastures.I know the property was sold and assumed that horses would remain,In their place are Angus cattle. There were beautiful Paints & Appaloosa's in the heard, which I had enjoyed feeding carrots and apples to.

A lot of positive changes were going on at the ranch but that stopped when they made me leave the property where I have been working and living for most of the season. Recently I started noticing some of the horses getting thin and at first assumed they had been bullied by the herd at feeding times so I started giving them extra grain, private pasture time and told my superviser I thought they might be due for a dose of worm treatment. The horses had steadily continued to lose weight and became depressed. That's when I became a problem!!! I learned that neither of the two men running the ranch were willing to pay for any kind of veternarian care the horses obviously required at this point. I continued to push for medical treatment for the sick and very sad looking horses and even researched how to treat them myself if possible. I was horrified when I told them that all I really needed was a $20 tool if they didn't already have one ( they don't ) and help holding each horse for a few minutes while I ( or at least tried to ) remedy the problem myself and I was denied. I just remember looking over at the poor miserable horses and telling myself that no matter what the consequence I am the only voice they have right now. If I don't start speaking louder for them they are going to die. That's when I started getting verbally abused and threatened with physical harm and then was told "I'm going to burn the barn down with you in it". I packed my things as fast as I could and people I don't even know showed up in a big truck loaded my things in the back, hooked on to my mysteriously now decommissioned car and towed me to a safer location. They have now hidden almost all of the horses. I fear the worst for them. These men are heartless monsters and won't think twice about shooting them and burying them where they admitted to me that they dug a hole with the backhoe and burried the others to lower the feed bill. There were hundreds of horses on that ranch and now there better still only be around 65 head. They still have not paid me and are now refusing to pay me for any of the work I've done for the past three months. Using the excuse that " the owner never asked you to work here so we don't have to pay you". So now I'm camping on a friends property up the mountain from the ranch with no electricity very little food or drinkable water, two vehicles that don't run and $12 to my name that I've been saving in case of an emergency. All I can think about are the horses and what I can do to get them the help they need. I'm happy to be cold, hungry and alone in a scary place right now because it feels as though I'm suffering right along with them tonight and will continue to do so until I'm sure that they are all safe, warm at night, have full bellies again and most of all the veterinary care they desperately need and deserve. Please help the horses at Hawks Rest Ranch in Pistol River before its to late. The horses Thank you.
