I just left Kings Supermarket in Verona and was racially profiled. I went in to purchase a $100 gift card for a friend. I asked the woman behind the courtesy counter where to locate the store gift cards. She walked me over to the cards, asked what amount I would need and said I needed to show identification because it was over $100. I asked if she wanted to conduct the transaction at the courtesy counter and she replied, no. However, she stood by the cashier, who was also a woman of color, to watch the entire transaction. I was extremely uncomfortable and voiced my concerns to the woman as I left the store. I would not recommend this supermarket to anyone. I will be contacting the general manager to voice my concerns again.
