Look for the Ohio Housing Finance Agency to be in the news over even more corruption in our state government. This place hands out millions of state and federal tax dollars/credits to these slumlord low income housing builders then help cover up problems with these builds instead of holding them accountable to federal guildlines for all that money. They feel it is appropriate to let the builder investigate themselves instead of them doing the job they are supposed to be doing. They are allowing places like Homeport to put these families lives in jeopardy by ignoring bad electrical problems and other severe code violations.

Didn’t actually do any business with this establishment; However, I was minding my own business, and decided to take a selfie as I was happening to walk by. Guard working the morning shift, on March 29, 2021, decided that selfie’s were a no no. I politely deleted the photos in front of him, and inquired where I could look up the laws for photography in the state, and was told I was gonna be arrested if he sees me again. Mind you that I’m new to Ohio, which is why I asked about the law. Don’t know how people are treated up here, but I do believe that was a bit rude🤷♂️

Not having a great experience with this program. Will update further once the final results are in. You will jump through hoops and they will still find something they are unhappy with. But not let you know about it until last minute. Been packed and ready to move for almost 3 weeks now not to mention I have obligations to my current landlord. First I needed to prove that I do not receive child support arreages which I have zero control over what my ex does. Trust that I wish I had that money then maybe I wouldn't be seeking assistance. Just when you think you have given every shred of documentation they need they will come back and tell you that you need to do something insane like change your payment plan with the IRS. Something that could have been brought to my attention weeks ago but instead waited until I turned in child support documentation that took weeks to get from the court system. Changing how I chose to pay my federal taxes (small biz owner) does not change what you actually owe the IRS so it makes no sense at all. Then wait for said documents from IRS. Could take weeks to provide proof of change and it's not an easy task to change a payment plan. Impossible program. Avoid it for your own sanity. Unless you enjoy waiting on pins and needles and being at the mercy of incompetent bureaucracy.

The Ohio Housing Finance Agency works to develop and rehabilitate low- to moderate-income housing across Ohio. The Agency also administers mortgage loan programs to help first-time homebuyers purchase a home. OHFA’s mission is to open the doors to an affordable place to call home. You can learn more about our programs at ohiohome.org.
There is no set timetable for our housing assistance programs due to so many variables affecting the process. You can learn more about our programs on our website: www.myohiohome.org To get started you'll need to meet with an OHFA-approved lender. To find one in your county, visit this page on our website: https://myohiohome.org/lenders/default.aspx and select your county from the dropdown. This page will also tell you more about the homebuying process: https://myohiohome.org/whattoexpect.aspx You can also call our office at this number: 614.466.7970 if you have any questions. Hope that helps!
Alex - Our agency doesn't offer or administer rental assistance, but we do have resources/links to pass along. This website looks to help with rental assistance, but it's only available for Franklin County residents: https://www.rentful614.com/ There's also a resource page with links for different types of assistance at the top of this page: https://www.ohiohousinglocator.org/Resources.html This page shows good contact info for Community Action Agencies throughout Ohio: https://businesshelp.ohio.gov/home-relief-grant.html. These agencies are helping those struggling with housing and have good local information for their specific counties. The Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio (COHHIO) also offers a Resource Guide to organizations with housing resources: https://cohhio.org/resourceguide/ I hope something in that list can help!
