Great course, I really learned a lot that I've been able to implement right away into my martial arts business.

I am actively engaging my change-over from a style based school to an Empower Kickboxing school. I love your quote above, "We're more focused on skill improvement rather than skill memorization." To me it embodies more about the martial arts...it is more like coaching my wrestlers over their high school careers and seeing them improve their skill sets over time - just makes more sense! Again - thank you (for waking me up to this concept)! Love the material that is included in the Empower Kickboxing curriculum and I am using it daily. Brock Brown Brown's Karate Studio Angleton, TX

I use Empower Kickboxing as my curriculum structure and have freed up more time to spend time with my family

Questions & Answers

What's the benefit of getting MATA certified?

Earning a certification accredited by the Martial Arts Teachers’ Association (MATA) shows that you walk the talk of continuous improvement. By your example, you show your students that you are committed to professional development as an instructor. You elevate yourself above the average “Black Belt Excellence” school. You deepen your understanding of instruction and leadership.

I'm already a black belt. Isn't that enough?

Earning a black belt typically means you’ve passed a test that demonstrates that you can remember and execute the techniques of your martial arts style. A black belt does not mean that you have been trained in how to teach that style or any other. Teaching is both an art and science that most martial arts instructors are never taught.
