My children love the staff and are very comfortable going there. However, their billing practices are predatory. They suggest many different services and don't take into account what your insurance will allow and reject, or if it exceeds the limit allowed by your provider. Be cognizant of what your insurance allows and what limitations you have for certain services. After more than a year, I received a substantial invoice stating that I had a balance of 90+ days. I requested the initial statement, but was told that they "did not have access to it" and were only able to provide me with a history bill, which was impossible to follow and understand.

I really cannot express enough gratitude for the gentle, warm and calm way the staff cared for my child. They are clearly trained in handling anxiety and special circumstances. I am very impressed and grateful!

This review is largely for the billing office at Where Smiles Grow in Delmar. We took both our children to Where Smiles Grow for 2.5 years. The experience was fine, and the kids enjoyed all the games and toys pre-COVID. We once had a wait time of over thirty minutes but were given a Dunkins gift card as an apology. The problem came after we switched dental insurance companies. The staff at the front desk thought our insurance was accepted but wasn't sure. I have never had an experience where an office couldn't tell you whether they accepted your insurance or not. Admittedly, it was my fault for not checking with our new insurance company directly. My oldest had a dental appointment and my youngest two weeks later. Even at this second appointment, no mention was made of the visit not being covered. A couple months later, a bill arrived for the full cost of both visits, already marked as 60 days late. After confirming with our insurance company that the practice was not covered, my spouse and I tried multiple times to reach out to the practice via phone and email to see if the bill could be negotiated. Rather than just telling us no, the office kept putting us off: "So and so is out this week, but she'll reach out to you when she's back in the office." or "That has to go through our billing manager, and she's not in right now." Because we were told someone would get back to us, we were rather shocked when a bill arrived not from the office but from a collection agency. Our credit score will be affected for the next seven years because of Where Smiles Grow's dishonesty. If you decide to visit Where Smiles Grow, check with your insurance directly that any procedure the office wants to do will in fact be covered. Know that Where Smiles Grow will not work with you on financial repayment or adjust its rate in any way.

We switched our daughter from a family practice to Where Smiles Grow due to wanting a second opinion and more child-friendly environment from a family practice. Dr. Mehveen is an absolute gem and is gentle in practice and demeanor. She and all other staff have put my anxious daughter at ease when getting fillings. Additionally, equipment is all child-sized and staff are always willing to answer questions from parents and children alike. Transparent billing and ease finding appointments to fit our schedule are a plus. I have no hesitation recommending the practice! We’ve now been several times since our daughters first appointment.
