I travel through there often great town ! More to do there then Catskill but Catskill is catching up .....resturants , bistros , art scene

Very well maintained station for Amtrak. Small yet modern inside. Outside parking is tight. There is a mobile sculpture which the wind agitates. There are a few benches for those awaiting the trains (which arrive about once per hour in high season).

Welcome to the KINGSTON TRAVEL FORUM The City of Kingston has the “unusual” position of being a spot that makes it not that easy to access the USA by public transit, despite the fact that the State of NY is less than 14 miles away across the St Lawrence River (via Wolfe Island) = http://g.co/maps/8yb86 The primary access point to Northern New York is via the 1000 Islands Bridge at Ivy Lea (aprox 31 Miles EAST of Kingston) and primarily so by private vehicle. The major public transit access points into Upstate NY are either via Niagara Falls / Buffalo to the west (at the other end of Lake Ontario) or via Montreal / Lake Champlain to the east… these offer up good bus and train options for crossing the border. There is a bus (Greyhound) that “occasionally” crosses the Border between Syracuse and Brockville (51-1/2 Miles EAST of Kingston / 35 Miles EAST of the 1000 Islands Bridge) but service is very very limited (and based on previous research the timing tends to be highly inconvenient… i
Definitely check Amtrak.com in advance to see train schedules and buy a ticket. Hudson is really popular and trains are often sold out, especially during the holidays. Evening departures from this station are also limited.
