Largest all organic public garden in the region. Started around 1975 and now has 175 plots for rent. Have to apply through the city. No dogs allowed, no restrooms, but a nice playground is nearby, along with picnic 🧺 and BBQ grills and sport fields. Plus short hiking trails. A very nice open green space in the middle of the city.

Go to the Alexandria city site. Search for Chinquapin gardens. You'll find a form there. Fill it out and you will be placed on the wait list. No openings now, but a good number will be available in early spring
No, these plots are rented from the city for vegetable and flower gardens. Try one if the local nurseries like Greenstreet or Meadows Farms.
