Refused to provide care for my child

I want to start off by saying that there has been previous visits that we are very thankful for the option to go to your facility. But this time things could have definitely gotten worse without the diagnosis that was later determined because of failure to even test for. Not everything is Covid! My 13 month old grandson was brought in with concerns of RVS. Staff refused to test for RSV stating he was too old even after being told that another child at daycare had it. Blatantly refusing to listen to parents, they insisted on testing him for......you guessed it, Covid and they would get back with results. The next day the parents called Pediatricians office, the nurse heard child coughing in the background and recommended he be seen as soon as possible. He was taken to his Pediatrician, they tested for RSV and immediate results showed "positive!" The anxiety and stress created by the decision of this staff resulted in concerns of child having Covid, who has he been around, making those people aware, loss of work by parent the next day in fear of Covid results, etc. Thankfully Pediatrician's office was focusing on what's best for this child not pushing Covid testing and putting this child through the test when clearly RSV could have been ruled out immediately THEN proceed if necessary. It is now OVER A WEEK LATER and a phone call was received by your office with a "negative" Covid result! Thanks for the update!!!!! Thankfully the parents and Pediatrician's office took further steps to insure the health of this child, who by the way is not too old for RSV, and the family was able to continue on without worry, monitor and take care of their child, let everyone know it wasn't Covid and relieve their stress level and concerns. So I guess I'd like to leave you with this........ I am not a medical professional and Yes, Covid is real but so is RSV in children of all ages as well as adults. So please keep an open mind, evaluate, listen to the parents concerns and potentially try other options first that could eliminate quickly a possible illness that is definitely not out of the question. Thank you for your time.

after nearly an hours drive to Gainesville shands pediatric after hours E.R.(arriving and checking in at approximately 5:45 pm) we are still waiting for my niece's test results at 2:48am. And other family members didn't get the care/help they normally have gotten in the past. It all can't be blamed on covid-19. I have and a few others have noticed some staff members not attending to some patients after being aggrieved by other patients.

Surprisingly pleasant experience, nurse and resident who saw my son seemed genuinely compassionate and friendly and happy, and patient with my little one who is afraid of the doctor. Wait times were a bit long but it's to be expected anywhere in these pandemic times. Even got him Covid tested during the visit (other urgent cares I talked to would not test someone under 5, they were happy to do it if I wanted it and it was a very fast swab, barely made him uncomfortable at all.) Best of all because my son's pediatrician is part of UF Health, they had all of his records. Even though we had never been there before, I didn't need to sign a single form, just name and birthday. HUGE benefit when holding a crying toddler!

Questions & Answers

do you do walk ins after hours or is it on a walk in basis

They don't accept walk ins. I was told that they do, drove almost an hour to get there and was told my daughter wouldn't be seen!

Are they equipped to ultrasound a stomach or to refer to cat scan?

I would think so, my son had an emergency cat scan of his eye once.
