Old Monterey Café

Went to the cafe for breakfast because of the great reviews, unfortunately the experience was underwhelming. First of all: the food was delicious, no question about it. But it was no better than other good restaurants. Coffee is refilled as usual, water was only given to us on request. The cafe was very busy, so much so that people had to queue to get in. Unfortunately, this also resulted in a service quality that can only be described as functional, unfortunately nothing was friendly at all. But the staff was really spinning. Still, no excuse for being told to vacate the seat with the cup still full because people were waiting. We had to do that too, and given the breakfast price, it's absolutely not okay and can also be done in a different tone of voice. We also had a toddler with us. I expect (possibly too much) consideration. Maybe it was just the weekend day and it's different during the week. I'm still annoyed that I gave a 15% tip. They wouldn't even have earned 10 for the unfriendly manner. The two stars are for the cool location and the delicious food.

Small and intimate place, very well attended and not recommended for large groups, we liked everything but the eggs Benedict were FABULOUS

Food is worth the price. I just don't like how crowded it is inside the restaurant.

A great cafe with very nice service. The café is cozy and has beautiful pictures of old stars and films on the walls. There's breakfast for every taste: waffles, toast, omelets and fresh fruit. The coffee is very tasty and the cocoa is also recommended. It's always a pleasure to go here!
