Cool place to stop by and get a closer look at the dam. Walk across the bridge to get a center view. The grass is very very green by the visitor sign and there are trees so it’s perfect for a picnic here. 5G cell service is available here.

Neat stop. We visited the visitor center and walked across and then back over the dam. Watch the speed trap on either side of the dam it goes from 55 then 45 then 35 quickly.

Wow.. What a location. Carl Hayden Visitor Center is one of the must visit places in the region. Indoor museum has great collection of historic and geological artifacts and information. View of the dam, bow bridge and the green water flowing from the dam, green roof of the hydro electric power station, Dinosaur foot print rocks, beautiful canyon and the surrounding mountains make this place a wonder. Easy parking and entrance fee free museum brings lot of tourists to this wonderful place. River flow in both directions is a treat to watch! Souvenir shop inside the museum has decent collection of items to buy.

This is a dam good visitors center. It has plenty of parking. The restrooms were updated and clean. The visitor center has a medium size exhibit hall with exhibits about the science, engineering, and history of the dam. I liked the 3D topographic relief map of Lake Powell. Some of the interactive exhibits had closed signs (likely for Covid). The exhibit hall features an enclosed observation deck with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the dam. It's a great pit stop on your way to / from Zion Canyon.

Well the VM is full, and it disconnects you after telling you to leave a msg. When it answers, it doesn't provide any information as to the fact that they're closed. Typical government "Customer Don't Care".
Carl Trumbull Hayden (October 2, 1877 – January 25, 1972) was an American politician and the first United States Senator to serve seven terms. Serving as Arizona's first Representative for eight terms before entering the Senate, Hayden set the record for longest-serving member of the United States Congress more than a decade before his retirement from politics. The longtime Dean of the United States Senate served as its president pro tempore and chairman of both its Rules and Administration and Appropriations committees.
