I was scheduled for an induction at 41w + 3D. My induction was suppose to start at 5pm but unfortunately they did not have enough nurses to safely start my induction. I was told I had to wait for 3rd shift nurses to begin my induction. While I appreciate medical staff putting patients health first, I wish they would've called & gave me the heads up before heading to the hospital. I had to wait 6 whole hours to start my induction. It was exhausting staying in the labor room for that long to do absolutely nothing & wait.. Anywho, I had a few nurses for my evening/overnight/morning in L&D. All of them were wonderful and really provided great medical care. I ended up getting an epidural around 2 AM with Robert F Early who was so rough with me & my body before starting the epidural. (i wasnt in excruciating pain btw) He lacked bedside manners and was pushing my body so quickly into position like I wasn't 41 weeks pregnant, dealing with contractions & sleepy from medication. I explained to him that he was being rough & to give me a minute to allow myself to get into the position he wanted me in. He then told me "I am not being rough"... nonetheless my epidural went well & I had no problems, just the anesthesiologist himself.. I ended up seeing a few different OBs during my stay all of which were super nice and gentle with me & my body. Dr. Anna Bossert, midwife Amber Evans, nurse Tiffany were all amazing women who helped me push for delivery & gave me all the confidence i needed to keep going, I felt strong having these women coach me through. (THANK YOU AGAIN!) Shortly after I was moved to the mother baby unit which was nice, spacious and you had your own private room. My nurses were okay and the care I was given post delivery was okay as well, nothing extraordinary. Seemed like the level of care decreased once i arrived to mother baby unit. But whoever is in charge of inputting the paper work for the babys birth certificate on mother baby messed up & needs to pay better attention to important legal paperwork given to them.. when i recieved my sons birth certificate in the mail, they put my husbands name as my middle name.. this was very upsetting to see knowing i provided the correct info on the forms... what an inconvenience for me to now send out additional info to PA DOH to get the correct info on my sons birth certificate... moving on, food service was alright, they had a decent amount of food on their menu. They do not offer guest trays for your spouse that stays with you for the night which is unfortunate.. They also have in house newborn photography which was nice, the photographer did such a great job! I def recommend doing the photoshoot. Nonetheless my experience at Reading hospital was good, especially my care during labor & delivery. I would 100% go back to this hospital to deliver again

Date of visit: 4 April 2022. I spent the night in observation ward because of my heart. Everybody here is kind and understanding. I started the day in the emergency room. There, I was put through a series of test before sending me to the observation room. It's like being treated by family. Very positive experience and I highly recommend Tower Health's Reading Hospital and Medical Center

I had an outpatient surgery here March 2022 and could not be more impressed with the staff and facility. My surgery went smoothly from check in to discharge. Everyone was absolutely wonderful and put me at ease. Thank you for making an unpleasant situation much more bearable.

Wasted our time and made us wait/remain in hospital for excessive amount of time: My wife and I go in for an ultrasound for our baby. Complications are found, they run Test A, ask us to stay overnight to run test B in the morning “if you stay we can get fluids in you overnight have you stop eating at midnight and get Test B right in the morning” okay great. Morning comes, bunch of doctors say hi, and don’t do a thing. 1:15pm I start asking the nurse what’s going on, “oh I’ll call them” 3pm “yeah we’re not going to do Test B (the reason we stayed the night in the first place) your pregnant type 1 diabetic wife who hasn’t been allowed to eat for 15 hours can eat now. We want to try Test A again. They’ll be around.” It is now 5:30pm, I’m beyond annoyed and just want to leave because all they’ve done in the past 26 hours is starve my wife and unborn child and waste our time. The worst part is I highly doubt they are going to allow us to leave even though there isn’t a reason for us to remain - I used to love this place, we had our first kid here and it was such a great experience. Reading Hospital/Tower Health what is the deal!? Update: I went up a star because we might be leaving tonight.
