Having a father buried St. James, France in the American Military Cemetery over there and a husband's ashes buried in Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery I cannot say enough. I totally understand the rules, but no longer will I place any type of arrangement on my husbands grave except in the fall where they are not removed as fast. But totally understand why they have to be removed in the spring and summer because it creates mowing problems. Both cemeteries are beautiful and peaceful. The one in France though has flowering shrubs as hedge rows, so there are flowers almost all spring and summer. I would suggest anyone visiting a loved one's grave on the Fort, take a blanket, a sandwich, etc. (leaving no trash behind) and sit enjoy a snack with your love.

My nephew Leon Davis was buried there in 2004. It's so quiet & serene. When TAPS was played, I felt an overwhelming sense of loss for them all.

I'm not sure. We went yesterday and saw flags on every grave as far as the eye can see
Wreaths are placed on the graves during Wreaths Across America in December.
Yes, all national cemeteries allow spouses to be buried with the service member. https://nvf.org/veteran-burial-benefits/#:~:text=Burial%20benefits%20available%20for%20spouses,if%20they%20predecease%20the%20veteran.

At the welcome center you can put your dad's name in the computer and it will tell you where it's located. Once you enter the cemetery make your first left and you will see the the center on your right. Thank you for your father's service!
There are approx. 19,700 headstones. There are mass burials in some. Therefore the approx. Number of interred is 22,000.
Any time you visit the cemetery there is a kiosk at the main office that will print you a map to any plot just type in the last name
