UPDATE: a representative from the salon has since reached out to me, and offered several solutions. So, while the initial cut was a disaster, I understand that mistakes happen and people have “off” days. I’m happy to try them again with a different stylist based on how well I was taken care of post cut, and knowing that several of my friends and co workers are regulars at most of the Scott J locations. ORIGINAL REVIEW (one star): I was thrilled to book a same day appointment with Laurell, but the last minute availability turned out to be the only good thing about my experience. I will not be returning. I was warmly greeted by the front desk staff and shown to my covid safe waiting space, which was lovely except that I was stuck waiting until more than 10 mins past my appointment time. I asked for a very straightforward 3-4” cut (whatever was necessary to make my hair even and healthy) with long layers. The cut was very quick and the stylist went straight into blow drying with a round brush, which is why I didn’t notice the issues until I got home and styled my hair myself. First of all, there are huge chunks of hair that she just didn’t cut in the front (shown in photos). This is not supposed to be a very long angled bob...these are just simply pieces of hair that were not checked at the end of the cut and completely forgotten about. Aside from that, the cut is sloppy and choppy. The layers go way too deep and are not blended. Maybe if Laurell had not been so distracted by her Apple Watch, she would have had time to check her cut. I would expect any licensed stylist, especially at a reputable UWS salon, to be able to take off 4” and put in some long layers. I’m so disappointed and sadly I think I’m stuck letting this bad cut grow until it can be fixed without losing any more length.

So disrespectful… they left the dye all over my face and the stylist didn’t even check if the color was right. She also left my hair soaking wet and refused to even give me a towel. The color was completely wrong, but when I told her, she completely dismissed me and said that she didn’t have time. When I complained to the manager, they offered to let me use their blow dryer so I can blow dry my hair MYSELF. Ridiculous. Her name was Jessica btw.

The stylists are at different price points based on their experience level. The length of hair does not determine the price, through very long hair might require a longer appointment which may be reflected in the price. Exact costs depend on the stylist.
