This is one of Litchfield County’s hidden secrets! First, the vibe is friendly and the place is actually set up like an old-fashioned General Store! But truly, John, the proprietor, is a fabulous host, and a terrific cook. Seriously, worth a stop, or a detour from your route if that’s what it takes. The pain au chocolat and almond croissants, delish. Gluten-free cookies! Yay! The ribs are worthy of dinner when you just can’t bear cooking another meal but still want to be home for Netflix binging. The Cole Slaw is the best I’ve had. And a nice cheese selection. Let’s not forget Friday is Pizza Night!(also on offer gluten-free/ low carb cauliflower crust) with simple to sophisticated toppings. It’s also a fun place to sit and do some laptop work or meet a friend to catch up on life. Warren General also carries newspapers. If you live in rural CT, this is a wonderful destination, and if you are passing through, a delightful stop for lunch, local humor, and the very best of local food. This is the best of casual local eateries!

Great food, super friendly staff and reasonably priced. Has a good selection of groceries in a pinch or for last minute gifts. Also NY bagels! Definitely glad something like this has returned to Warren. I loved the pulled pork sandwich
