Liberty Sculpture Park is free but please consider making a donation as it helps support the artists. This was a great 20 minute stop off the freeway when passing through Yermo.

"Li Wang-Yang Statue" ("Li Wang-Yang Statue"), created in 2018. The statue is 6 meters high with its base. Mr. Chen Weiming completed the creation after 3 months. Li Wangyang (1950.11.12-2012.6.6), a native of Taashi New Village, Daxiang District, Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, China. The earliest activist of China's independent trade union, the leader of the labor movement. He organized the "Shaoyang Workers' Mutual Aid Association" in 1983 and founded the "Zijiang Minbao". In 1989, he organized workers to participate autonomously in the "June 4th Incident" and was sentenced to 13 years in prison for the crime of "counter-revolutionary propaganda and incitement". In 2001, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the crime of "inciting subversion of state power", a total of 22 years. He is one of the political prisoners who have been imprisoned for the longest time during the June 4th Incident. While serving his sentence, he adhered to principles and rejected the claims of those in power. He was subjected to torture and severe physical torture. His family was also persecuted.
