If I wasn't positive about the existence of Angels before, I certainly am now. The care, compassion and love provided to my wife and family by every member of our Hospice Team was such a blessing. I can't sing their praises loudly enough!

Its a bit sad that they have to get their own staff to write their own glowing reviews, as an exercise in damage control. Read the other reviews.

Hospice of Humboldt treated us with demeaning disregard throughout my husband’s time as their patient. They also withheld needed services and supplies. Shortly after my husband’s nurse told me he had “weeks, not months” to live, we had a week with no services at all—no aide came, not even a phone call from a nurse to check in. We never met the social worker assigned to us, and she provided no practical assistance to us. Their lack of caring extended all the way to my husband’s last breath. As his respiratory distress escalated, their triage nurse informed me there are no oxygen deliveries on the weekend, so he would go without. When I pleaded with her for someone to come help us as my husband was dying, she told me to call a neighbor to assist with his terminal care needs. They won’t send staff out when patients are actively dying, she told me. When a nurse finally showed up after he died, she said she was the only hospice nurse on duty for the whole county. I was left to struggle to wash my poor husband’s dead body myself with wipes while she was on her laptop in another room.

Our family has had the worst experience with this Hospice organization. Our uncle has been on hospice for several months....it's been nothing but struggle the entire time. It is heart-wrenching to see our family members in the heat of the care ridiculed and threatened. Hospice is supposed to be there for the FAMILY; our aunt was told flat out, "I'm not here for you". Family members need that support when their loved one is declining. It should be a time of compassion and togetherness not constant battling with a hospice organization.

It's time to contact Hospice if you or a loved one are declining and want support towards a comfortable, peaceful passing instead of a pursuing traditional curative measures. Qualifying for the Hospice benefit just means "a reasonable expectation of 6 months or less to live." Conditions like Cancer that has spread automatically qualify even if you pay for and puruse Naturopatic curative measures. Call Hospice anytime for a no-obligation evaluation.
Cold extremities, change of breathing pattern. There are many other different indicators. Speak to a hospice nurse to help guide you through the end of life process.
Yes, there is a Slipper Club group offered Saturdays from 9-10:30.
