My mother has been on the waiting list since 2016 and has still not gotten into the Carmel Foundation. They are inept and have no proper protocol to assist with individuals who need assistance. I do not have a positive review of this entity.

Do you provide a resource for housing? I’m 69 and trying to relocate in the Monterey, Carmel valley area to be near my grandchild

There are very few senior only housing units. And most of them have years long wait lists on them. I just moved out of Monterey, because my rent in a 1 bedroom apartment went from 900 a month 7 years ago, to 1400 a month this year. The rents continue to raise at exorbitant and uncontrolled rates. I saw no end to the insanity, and in the next 5 years that 1400 will be 2000. Unless you have a very good source of income, with regular raises, I would not recommend relocating to this area. Gov Brown just signed a law, limiting water use to 55 gallons a day per person with massive fines for overuse. The water situation is horrible and will continue to cause everything In California to get worse than it already is. I have breathed a sigh of relief by escaping when I did. Om currently saving over 700 dollars a month over my California expenditures. Move to califoena at your own risk. The future does not hold well for those on a fixed income!
