We were staying at a cabin on the Rappahannock not far from Urbana. We were headed to eat at Something Different (which is sadly closed now) when we drove past Mi Jalisco and decided to try it next. We are sooo glad we did! I'm not sure if it is THE best Mexican food I've ever had but I can't remember when I've had better. We were seated as soon as we got there for lunch at 11:45 on a Friday but the place filled up fast after that. There were still a couple of tables inside and on the patio but i imagine on a Saturday there would have been a wait. The chips and salsa were immediately placed on the table while we looked over the menu. Both were fresh and delicious. The "white sauce" socommon in the Tidewater area was a bit sweet for my taste but the other diners were enjoying it. I ordered the chicken and rice special, not wanting to be too adventurous at a new restaurant. Surprisingly it was amazing! I thought I was getting plain Jane but it was so good! No idea WHAT they did to the rice but wow! The guac that came on the side was really delicious too and I find that it often is not at other places. Even though it was delicious, I did not finish it. I wanted order to save room for dessert. The flan was PERFECT!! I didn't even know it could be that good. So creamy and just a hint of bitterness from the caramelized sugar sauce. It is wasn't 90 min away we would have been back twice already. The service was attentive, the atmosphere was nice, very clean and brightly colored. The chairs were comfortable enough that I would b able to enjoy staying for a drink or two if we ever go back. What an unexpected treat!

Comfortable and cozy restaurant with great fresh and fast food. Very attentive and friendly staff. Fajita portion was nice and steak was flavorful and tender. Tortilla chips were warm and crispy, and beer was cold with frosty mugs! I hesitated to tell anyone because some secrets are best kept!
