Today I experienced racism here at east Jefferson. I was brought in by ambulance for chest pain and high blood pressure. They took 8 tubes of blood within a hours time saying the last sample collected clotted. I was treated by nurse Kendra. She didn’t flush my IV after she said she would be back and never returned. She also left the bloody wipes and iv pieces on the tray for hours. The guy across from me was a older white male with kidney issues but was given dilaudid twice. But I wasn’t given anything for my pain. These people we’re trying to give me a GI COCKTAIL AND Clonidine after I had already informed them I took my Losartan Potassium 100mg 2 hrs prior to arriving at the hospital. My blood pressure was elevating because I was in pain. Heart rate elevated. I wasn’t given anything but more blood pressure meds after I told them I had taken mine 2 hours before arriving. They discharged me still in pain and blood pressure was 156/92. When I was discharged I was given 5 documents about opioid addiction. I haven’t had opioids since 2018. So I have no idea why I would be given that. I have a cervical spine and lumbar fracture and still don’t take pain meds. I can’t believe I was profiled as a opioid user. Well yes I can because like I said I was racially profiled. I took my meds with me to the ER. But they’re looking at an out dated chart on Lcmc health. When I could’ve easily pulled up my profile at CVS. Oh and my machine kept alerting them about my blood pressure elevating as seen in the photos NO ONE CAME TO CHECK. I had to use my cellphone to call the nurses station to get someone to check. At this point I’m upset and asking why isn’t anyone doing their job and another nurse came in and ask nurse KENDRA WAS SHE ALRIGHT? LIKE SERIOUSLY disregarded everything I was saying. No concern about my blood pressure elevating. Said it was because I was agitated. What??? The experience I had and the way they made me feel I’ll never go back there. It can be life or death I’m still not going. Ever again and I’m reporting this to the board. I have video and pictures to back up everything that I’m saying.

I had my son here last year and while the staff did their best in trying to figure out where everything was in the room to assist in my delivery (out of town nurses new to the hospital). The on call OB/GYN was wonderful (I had luckily seen her a couple times with scares throughout my pregnancy) , I asked about calling my OB/GYN as it was 11:00 at night and a week prior to my scheduled induction. I was told that unless the baby held out until business hours the following morning that the on call OB/GYN delivers the baby. Well, my baby was born 2 hours later and my OB/GYN was never called. My OB/GYN was very upset that he was not called and said this is not the first time this has happened to him. I was very disappointed that my OB/GYN was not there to deliver and especially with my blood clotting disorder that he had been closely monitoring with the MFS. Due to this I was surprised and told before delivery I wasn't able to receive an epidural or any pain meds. So, if you are delivering here and it is after hours be sure you call your OB/GYN yourself to make them aware you are delivering because you will be told the on call OB/GYN will deliver otherwise. Also, i had a 5 day stay and for multiple days our room had no a/c as it was broken. We were sweating at night and it was very uncomfortable. The showers and bathroom were beyond sketchy and not clean. I had to use this hospital due to it being where my OB/GYN delivers. I highly recommend using an alternative hospital if it is an option to you.

Staff member Laqueisha who works in the house keeping department was super helpful in helping me get a friend in a wheelchair and her service dog to the restroom. Even though she was on her break, she stopped to help through the entire process which took approximately 15 minutes. I wish I could coin a word or a phrase that would show my deep appreciation for her.

At one time they did, but im not sure they do right now. I believe Ochsner Medical Center does. 1-866-Ochsner is the number that you can call to find out.
