Definitely beneficial for some, but the program could use some improving. I participated and completed in spring of 2020. I had issues with the director, and the way certain things were done, and although suggestions are welcome, they simply will not be acted upon. As one example, there's no caffeine, so the only coffee is decaf. most people are not going to drink decaf coffee, yet they would send up 20 styrofoam cups of coffee on a tray, and later in the day, they would be throwing out 19 styrofoam cups of coffee. I asked about having a carafe, and cups... nah. Very good to dry out, and learn skills and tools for continued sobriety. It is cold turkey on all levels though, no access to your cellphone. There is no caffeine, no smoking, no moderation on any level. If you are a smoker or addicted to caffeine, I would recommend planning ahead. I would describe it mostly as a great social experiment, mixing people from ages of 19 up to early 70's. Heroin and benzo users mixed in with alcoholics and cocaine users. There would be odd little cliques and power plays. You are allowed to select your meals from a menu, however order accuracy hovered around 40% at best. Either missing items, or completely wrong entree. The shining star from the whole experience is the counselor, MJ. MJ is the man. Be like MJ.and best of luck in your journey.
