Decent place for a hike. Some hills but nothing too challenging. Trails are wide and well maintained.

I love NGWSP for their expansive property of woods and access to two major gravel bike trails, which also have great cafes and restaurants off of them. Hiking and running in the property trails are fantastic. There is change in terrain and while all hiking trails connect, there are smaller segments, which is great if you have smaller kids or hane limitations. What I don't love about the state park is the camping set up. While most WI state parks are pretty similar give or take on a spectrum, this one is very small and places it between two major highways. Those roads are pretty loud at night. And the campsites are extremely close to other campers with not a lot of wood in between. If you can get past that though, the accommodations in the area and things to do won't disappoint!

The park is within close proximity to both the New Glarus brewery and downtown New Glarus. The park itself is pretty standard for a state park with the typical trails and camping options. The park does have a nice playground with a observation deck.

This is a small state park with primitive camping and pit toilets. We stayed in the campsites where you could drive up, rather than the walk to ones. There was some road noise from the road that is behind the sites, but it wasn't too bad. The toilets were not as bad as they have been in years past, so that's a plus. Not having camp hosts on site is a huge negative. There was one site that was up partying until 2 each night. This has also happened in years past. Some of the sites are really sloped, so if you're in a tent you may have problems. It would be nice if they would let more grass grow at the sites, as they get pretty muddy when it rains. Showers can be had at the pool in town, if it's open. The trails were nicely maintained and we found they were well marked. It's also nice that town is relatively close, so you can combine camping and support the local economy together.

Sites have required a reservation for at least the last 3 or 4 years.
I visited at the beginning of the month and didn't run into anyone. Nor did I see a place to sign in if you're camping
