Great place to walk in the shade of large deciduous trees. The park is within easy walking distance of downtown Elkins and the local university. A major plus is local folks playing blues grass music in the early evening.

I took my grandson to the park, we had a great time, there are lots of things to do, slides and swings, obstacle course for kids and yep even papaw lol they also have a pavilion to seat under if you want to fix a meal, I recommend it to anyone who has children, or anyone that wants to get out and relax and forget about your problems for awhile.

Fantastic break from city arctecture to leave a green space for families a children. Only issue is bathroom facilities could be better kept.

My Father James herron and my sister was best cutsaw her name is Eleanor Herron Finchman they took the Blue Ribbon home every year as far as I can remember mom won can backing we all played in activity in the Mountain State Forest Festival I want a blue ribbon Christmas folk dancing yeah I remember my mom making a wedding quit that was so beautiful a woman at the Mountain State Forest Festival sing it and she had to have it my dad and my brothers got in the spitting contest one of the nicest thing that I ever got out of that say for successful was the ride I met this guy Richard Campbell he owned it lot of people didn't know it I date again Christmas came around I got a Christmas card from him then I went to Ohio but I had a great time with him I never will forget him because all the rides are Road I got you ride free Judy Herron chiles you could not be the Italian sausage dogs or the corn dogs
