A history buffs dream. A significant revolutionary war battle took place there. Our most recent visit we were fortunate enough to get an overview from a volunteer at the park.

No Admission fees.

I was there yesterday and the gates were closed. Is it because it's winter, or the government shutdown?

It may be closed in the winter as the winding road climbs some rather steep grades. This is a state park, therefore, unaffected by federal actions.
