Bad food, bad service. We ordered Pot roast dipper & meatloaf sandwich. Meatloaf should be called "meatless." Specialty Mac & cheese was pasta w/ bland cheese sauce poured on top. Waited 45 min. All folks who ordered after us was served before us. Was told it was b/c our order was more complicated. Pretty sure what we ordered was already prepped.

We had been disappointed a couple of times several years ago. Today was our first return since then and we were really impressed with the improvement. Most of the staff were very kind and attentive. Our waitress "Lisa" was a total treat! We split a delicious "happy" soft pretzel for an appetizer. We were glad to see that they are brewing many more of their own brews and they are quite good. We settled in on their Brutal Brown Ale (I guess named after the annual Blue Ridge Brutal Bike Race) and it was very satisfactory. Then we both had their chargrilled meatloaf sammy and beer mac-n-cheese side. Both were quite good. I would recommend that they top the mac with a little cheese and lightly brown it before serving for added visual appeal and a bit of gooey fun. We will be back more often!! Total for 4 pints, big pretzel and 2 entrees plus tax and tip for the 2 of us was $75 (and we took some leftovers home).

3 stars feels generous — the atmosphere is nice, outdoor area is great for dogs. I wouldn’t choose this spot for a meal, maybe just stick to beer. The spinach artichoke dip was the best part of the meal but still just ok. Iced tea was gross. Burger that we split was real gross. Fries were obviously frozen and not great. My husband didn’t love his beer. They seem very understaffed, we waited to be seated and waited for drinks. Waitress was friendly and kind. We really wished it had been better!

Boondocks catered the rehearsal dinner for our wedding and knocked it out of the park. Penny (the catering director) handled last minute guest changes very well, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was phenomenal. We even stopped by and had dinner at the restaurant our first night in town. Highly recommend for dinner or events!
