Everybody I came in contact with at Lutheran Social services, was sweet, understanding, and helpful. The generosity and kindness is greatly appreciated.. Not to mention the fruits, veggies, canned goods & even pet food. Fantastic outfit. With phenomenal employees and volunteers.

At LSS we can help with free food, if they visit Monday through Friday 10am-12pm. We do not offer cash assistance, but you can find out which local agencies do by calling 2-1-1 or checking out www.auntbertha.com.
James, yes, our mission is to serve people in need. Like many nonprofits, we do receive grants to support our work, some from local and federal government. Nonprofit services make our community a better place to live and work, and provide a safety net for people while they find self-sufficiency. Allocation of taxpayer dollars for nonprofit grants are decided by elected officials.

Andres, it's a client-choice pantry so you can select the items you want. We typically have fresh produce and frozen meets in addition to dry goods, baked goods and cans.
This place is a great place for food, and if you need glasses around the corner through the main door, the optometrist is available from time to time

The only requirement to receive food from the food pantry is to be a resident of Duval County.
Call the main number what happens is the case managers put their clients on the list to get turkeys first but after that then I believe they put the public on the list. I haven't worked there in years.
